SMS Banking

As a personalized end-user communication instrument, today mobile phones are perhaps the easiest channel on which customers can be reached on the spot, as they carry the mobile phone all the time no matter where they are. IRIS SMS banking module offers both push and pull messages and provides a robust, flexible and scalable operating environment. IRIS is built to be able to work in a multi-host banking environment and has open interfaces which allow for messaging between existing banking host systems using industry standards. IRIS is able to connect seamlessly to multiple SMSC operators depending on the volume of messages that are require to be pushed. The SMSC’s could be different, such as using simple modems or connecting over leased line or through a VPN over internet.

IRIS SMS banking offers customers a range of functionality, classified by push and pull services as outlined below.

Push messages are those that the bank chooses to send out to a customer’s mobile phone, without the customer initiating a request for the information. Pull messages are those that are initiated by the customer, using a mobile phone, for obtaining information or performing a transaction in the bank account.

Typical push services would include:

  • Periodic account balance reporting (say at the end of month)
  • Reporting of salary and other credits to the bank account
  • Successful or un-successful execution of a standing order
  • Successful payment of a cheque issued on the account
  • Insufficient funds
  • Large value withdrawals on an account

Users can create and manage their own address book with frequently used numbers through a file import or by manual input. Just by selecting an address book, SMS and Email can be sent to selected contacts or to all the contacts. Group Address book can be created and shared between members of the same user group.

IRIS Notification system allows alerting users on certain evets by integration with Network Monitoring systems, Event management systems etc. Just by creating a Notification group with the users under it with a onetime setup these events can be triggered.

All messages can be tracked and traced through to delivery to the end customer. IRIS guarantees that all messages are delivered and that all messages can be tracked from end-to-end, providing a comprehensive audit trail. It uses standard protocols like SMPP for SMS Messages and SMTP/POP3 protocol for Email integration.
